We got our bags out of the boot and headed up the drive.

Before I’d even got to the front door, Mum had about ripped the door off the hinges and grabbed us both in a choke-hold that she liked to call a hug...

“How’s Gran.” I managed to croak.

“Oh, she’s fine.” Mum rolled her eyes, “There’s nothing wrong with her really... I panicked, I think. She’s cooking for us every night – and she’s been down the bingo three times this week, already...”

I glanced towards Taylor. His gran went to bingo too. I wondered if my gran had said something to his about us being together... That might be awkward since she knew nothing at all about him being remotely gay. He looked back at me in alarm, “I think I need to go and see my folks, too...” he murmured and headed back down the driveway towards his car. He only lived across the road so they’d have seen us pull up if they’d happened to be in the lounge...

I followed him, “Hey!” I shouted before he let himself in his front door, “See you later?”

He turned and nodded, flashing me one of his heart-melting grins, “I’ll be back in a couple of hours or so.” He promised.

I let out a sigh of relief. I’d been really worried there for a moment that he was going to totally bottle it...
